Description

The Vishakha (splitting, branching, coral) lunar mansion is the perfect analogue for the western archetype of Libra both in its pluralism and severe indecisiveness as well as in its zeal for righteousness and justice. This symbolism is far from accidental, as tis counterpart in the west is the Libra constellation.

This plural mansion has three different symbols: the first is the branches of a coral, which signifies a split in the road or in one’s opinions. The second is the potter’s wheel that represents industriousness and talent. The third is the front of a triumphant arch which represents conquests both in the political and in the sexual sense, and underscores the determination represented by this mansion. Even when it comes to its deity, Vishakha isn’t satisfied with one and features a combination of both Indra, king of the gods and the Hindu Zeus, and Agni, the god of fire. This combined form, called Shakragni (the power of fire), also serves a parable for the branching fiery lightning, which is Indras most powerful weapon.

Saturn is exalted at 20° of Libra in this lunar mansion, which suits it perfectly both in its pluralism and in its zeal for righteousness and justice.

The Moon, in contrast to Saturn, enters deep debilitation at 3° of Scorpio in this indecisive, divergent and extremist lunar mansion.
